Art Nouveau broke radically with the classic mindset that, until the 19th Century defined Western taste since Greco-Roman times. In its exuberant naturalism, floral and animal elements are transformed not only into ornaments, but centerpieces. Structural elements stop being such and transform into decorative ones, wilst retaining their funciton.
The delicacy of matching colours, and the general beauty in form of almost ethereal pieces of fluid curves and organic shape are characteristic of this period.
